2023
Polygamy Day is August 19

August 19, 2023, is the TWENTY-THIRD  Polygamy Day ®.

On December 13, 2022, U.S. President Joe Biden signed the "Respect for Martriage Act" into law. Earlier in 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) had overturned Roe v. Wade (1973) with the Dobbs v. Jackson (2022) Decision, determining that the federal government did not have authority to prevent States from deciding issues of pre-natal infanticide (known as abortion). Because of that Dobbs decision overturning a 49-year-old precedent, supporters of same sex marriage feared that the SCOTUS might later also overturn the Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) that had set a brand new precedent that legalized the newly invented legal construct of same sex marriage. For that reason, to keep same sex marriage legal, such supporters in Congress passed this new law, the "Respect for Marriage Act," that President Biden signed into law on December 13, 2022. Once again, however, the anti-polygamy bias continued even with this new law. The new law does not and will not apply to UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy. So much for "respect" for marriage.

By the last week of 2022, it was clear that the Brown family on the TLC reality show, "Sister Wives," was falling apart. After third wife Christine had left the family, news broke that both the second and first wives, Jannelle and Meri, were also no longer married to husband Kody. As the Season 17 aired at the start of 2023, it seemed as though only the fourth wife Robyn would remain. In preparation for Season 18 to start one day after this Polygamy Day 23, the rumor media was teasing the idea that Robyn may or may not be leaving too. The August 28, 2023, issue of People Magazine shows Janelle and Christine with the headline: "Sister Wives Tell All: Life After Polygamy." The whole series has become a massive disappointment to supporters of UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy. National Polygamy Advocate Mark Henkel explained, "Many of us have been watching the implosion of this family over the several years of the show. Three key events sadly pointed to what was coming. When the family moved to separate housing in Las Vegas, it set them up for later failure. When Christine emotionally refused to let the family re-unite into one massive house at 'Coyote Pass,' the writing was starting to be scribbled on the proverbial wall. And when the pandemic transformed Kody himself into a fearful 'Covid1984 tyrant,' the implosion seemed inevitable. Even Kody's son, Gabe, in one of the later episodes, cognizantly asked the right question that many of us were also wondering, about his father: 'Where is the guy who used to be all about freedom?' I have wondered that too. So, it has been heartbreaking to watch this slow-motion train-wreck - all while hoping that, somehow, the family would figure things out and re-unite again. Since the first move to separate housing in Las Vegas, we have been wanting to be wrong in our foreseeing this tragedy. Even now, we still must remind ourselves, 'There, but for the grace of God, go I.'"

Notwithstanding those previous disappointments over the past year, pro-polygamists still did have some positive news occur too.

On March 23, 2023, the National Polygamy Advocate ™ PODCAST celebrated its 5th year of weekly episodes. That milestone was celebrated in two parts over two weekly episodes on March 8 and March 15, 2023.

That two-part celebration also marked a new transition in the National Polygamy Advocate ™ PODCAST. National Polygamy Advocate Mark Henkel directly shares and answers questions as a TOOL to help supporters and activists. In different episodes, he has shared How the National Polygamy Advocate PODCAST Began, Developed, and Improved. Separate episodes explain how Bigamy and Polyamory are both different from UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy, as well as teach about issues to beware from Dishonest Bigamy to Polygadolatry. In the episode, "Why is Polygadolatry Spelled That Way?", Mark Henkel reveals his sense of humor as he explains why he pronounces the letter "G" in "polygyny" with the same hard-G sound of "gynocologist." Other episodes explain "Why is Mark Henkel the National Polygamy Advocate?", "Why National Polygamy Advocate does NOT mean National Polygamist", and as well as what he had to Learn & Grow in the 1990s, the 2000s, the 2010s, and the 2020s SO FAR. In the episode that aired just three days before this very "Polygamy Day ® 23," the National Polygamy Advocate shared the walkthrough of the history of how it came to be that "August 19 is Polygamy Day ®".

June 26, 2023, marked the 30-year anniversary for the National Polygamy Advocate as a special day that "started it all for him" regarding polygamy. Surprisingly, numerous significant milestones have also occurred on that date over the decades since that first June 26, 1993. Those details were shared in the June 21, 2023, episode of the National Polygamy Advocate ™ PODCAST, titled, "Why June 26 is Such a Significant Date".

Lastly, with the 280th episode that aired on July 26, 2023, the National Polygamy Advocate ™ PODCAST achieved yet another exciting milestone. As shared in the following episode the next week on August 2, 2023, all supporters of UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy, can celebrate as well as the National Polygamy Advocate "Mark Henkel Celebrates 100 Hours of Weekly Podcast Content".

Notwithstanding the causes for some disappointment this past year, pro-polygamists still have much with which to keep moving forward and to one day obtain freedom.

Supporters and activists for UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy, genuinely do have much to consider, strategize, and positively celebrate this August 19, 2023, "Polygamy Day ® 23."

Polygamy Day is August 19

POLYGAMY is NOT "bad for women"
Dr. Joyce Brothers: "Polygamy is not as bad as people think. I would rather be third in line of a good man than the only wife of a jerk."
[Live, as Guest: Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect", Comedy Channel, Dec. 22, 1994]

     POLYGAMY is NOT "Immoral"
Dr. Laura Schlessinger: "In the polygamous society of the Bible, adultery is defined as sexual intercourse between a man (whether married or unmarried) and a woman married to someone else. In biblical times, most societies allowed men to marry more than one woman."
["The Ten Commandments", Pg. 218, © 1998 Dr. Laura Schlessinger]
